Visual notes from our week at the Adelaide Fashion Festival.
Five days of Adelaide Fashion Festival is at once not enough (because we aren’t yet sick of canapés) and far too much (because we are quite tired).
To commemorate that five days, its 10 designer runways, and 20 events here is an incomplete but spiritually whole visual diary of things that happened. Some of it wasn’t even in our Instagram stories. And now there’s bonus annotations.
The week began with a breakfast date at Monday’s Coffee Store with illustrator, Petar Prodanović (not pictured), and Autark designer, Sophia McMahon.
This talk on the first day was probably our favourite event, mostly because of the brutal honesty of David Shah – who publishes the Pantone Color Bible.
Creative Director, Chris Kontos, getting things perfect ahead of opening night.
Media call highlights: witnessing rehearsals and access to the free kombucha fridge.
Holly was in one of our print editorials one time – hey Holly! Seen here wearing Tiff Manuell
A wild editor and graphic designer spotted at the opening (but avoiding being captured).
Rin Models owner, Juach Cyer: wears womens’ blouses, looks great.
Graphic designer Louie Quilao: Goes to fashion show, thinks serious thoughts.
2/3 of Slow Fashion Festival, Natalie Ivanov and Emily Sheahan, wearing things straight off the Slow runway.
Jack Fenby backstage. Last year he shot for us, but this year he’s moved on to better things. We’re not salty, just proud.
Keanna from Pride Models. Just being beautiful.
Here is Lucy from Rin Models, patiently obliging my creative whim.
Kiara from Azalea Models getting her makeup did.
Face of the festival, Akiima (from Finesse), was literally smiling every time we saw her.
If it’s not right, do it yourself.
Just backstage thingz with Lilly.
It was really hard to take a good photo backstage – the lighting situation was not ideal. Side note: shoutout to the dressers of AFF.
Carmen Dugan, designer of Keepsake.
Katya Komarova (foreground) on the catwalk for C/MEO the night after her designs were shown on the catwalk.
Things we noticed at the Vogue Festival launch: shoes.
Other things we noticed at the Vogue Festival launch: art.
More shoes, this time belonging to the feet of CityMag publisher Josh.
Because big events ought be recorded.
Spotted: Vogue Australia editor, Edwina McCann. XOXO Gossip Girl.
It’s Holly again!
This is Akon. We chatted to her backstage and we can confirm she’s a lovely human being.
This dress (right) was the winner of the Premier’s Design Award.
Is she a Disney princess, or is she an Adelaide girl? Lucy wearing Paolo Sebastian.
And after the final show, we headed straight for Ying Chow. As it should be.
