One artist has been dropped from the drag and DJ-heavy line up of Poppin Out Festival in February, with a venue change also announced.

Poppin Out Festival will be downsized from the Adelaide Gaol to the Marys Poppin club and Synagogue Place street party.

In a statement released on Instagram, Poppin Out says the reason for downsizing is due to “the shifting economic landscape affecting entertainment venues across South Australia”.

Headliner CeCe Penniston, most famous for the song ‘Finally‘, has also been bumped from the line up.

Poppin Out says via Instagram that this is to accommodate “the new format resulting in the change in location”.

My Lover Cindi DJs are also no longer playing.

Poppin Out did not respond to CityMag’s request for comment by the time of publication.

Australian dance duo Sneaky Sound System, best known for their chart-toppers ‘UFO’ ‘Pictures’ and ‘I Love It’, will still headline.

It wouldn’t be a Marys festival without some familiar faces from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and for Poppin Out they’ve pulled ANETRA from season 15.

As for Drag Race Down Under stars, Adelaide’s Kween Kong from season two will perform, as will Hannah Conda, New Zealand winner Spankie Jackzon, and season one’s Art Simone.

You can expect all your favourite Marys queens to join in the fun, with Kane Enable, Eve Elle, Ellie Delight, Berri Juicy, Luci Furr, Wundes, and Mary’s resident DJ JOSIF on the lineup.

Joining the queen-heavy lineup is Sydney drag king Sexy Galexy, who self-describes as a “get down disco loving boogie Drag King”.

Poof Doof, Sydney and Melbourne’s inclusive dance club and Mardi Gras favourite, will take over part of the festival, including performances from Jimi the Kween.

The team from Melbourne’s Thursgay event series will bring chaotic party vibes, with other Melbourne guests including DJ Jason Conti, DJ Nick Spurway and disco-flavoured DJ, Butch Le Butch.

Adelaide’s Night Call DJs will also be in session, along with Sydney DJ duo Atomic Kiss, and Rachel K.

As with all Marys events, inclusivity is at the heart of Poppin Out and they’re promising this inaugural event will be colourful, camp and carefree, with hopes to continue it annually.

Poppin Out is a licensed 18+ event, and general tickets are on sale now through their website.
