The event will include one-off cocktail experiences, live music and food offerings and is a collaboration between four local producers: Ambra Spirits, Imperial Measures Distilling, Happenstance Distillery and Brightstar Brewing.

Ambra Spirits Managing director Finn Healy wants this event to bring light to the “little buzzing economy of small businesses” in the area.

“I started at Ambra Spirits in February, and I guess I’ve just realised that West Thebarton flies under the radar; there’s so much cool cultural offerings and experiences and businesses down here,” Finn says.

“People don’t realise that we are all bundled together, and people love that concept of being able to walk down to a nice little niche precinct and bounce around from bar to bar.

“For so long we’ve watched this humble suburban street grow stronger and stronger with new brands deciding to call it home and we’re thrilled to finally have an annual event.”

The strong community feel is born out of the proximity of the producers, with Ambra Spirits and Imperial Measures Distilling just a six-minute walk from one another.

Imperial Measures Distilling general manager Caitlin Macpherson says the Cocktail Trail event is a great way to show how special their precinct is.

“It has become our great privilege to be nestled amongst the delightful venues of these world class producers who have become our friends,” Caitlin says.

Imperial Measures recently participated in the Tasting Australia Spirit Awards and took home five of the 11 major awards.

The Thebarton area has changed since the West End Brewery closed three years ago. However, with the opening of Brightstar Brewing shortly after and the emergence of smaller distillers and brewers, the precinct is bouncing back.

Brightstar Brewing co-founder and general manager Megan Parker told CityMag that their brewery “is excited to see so many changes in the area revitalising Thebarton, given its proximity to the city”.

“We literally just had the front of our road dug up and replaced over the last eight months so we’re looking forward to our front area being neat and tidy again for the event,” Megan says.

The City of West Torrens has done outfall drain works in Stirling Street across from Brightstar Brewing to the tune of $250,000.

The West Thebarton Cocktail Trail will also feature live rock n’ roll music from local artists across all four venues.

“There’s going to be a few common legends down here like Dusty Lee. We are not sure on set times yet, but all will be revealed in the next month,” Finn says.

“It’s going to be like a mini festival; we are going to have live music running at all the venues at all times with a setlist so people can soak up the different genres.”

Beer cocktails from Brightstar

There will be food and exclusive drink specials on offer at each venue, like the signature sour cherry spritz from Happenstance Distillery and beer cocktails from Brightstar Brewing.

Happenstance Distillery co-founder Mei-Lin Ford says the cocktail trail is a great opportunity to embrace “the grass roots industrial vibe of Thebarton”.

Visit the West Thebarton Cocktail Trail on Saturday, October 19 from 12pm to explore the local producers of the area and engage with the revitalised West Thebarton. This community event has free entry, but you need to register via Humantix.
