Eat, coffee, gym, repeat. New café Heat has opened up out the front of North Adelaide gym PLATFRM on Melbourne Street.
New café brings the Heat to North Adelaide
Penny Hospitality, the burgeoning group led by Hugo Pedler, has partnered with fitness guru James Trenerry to create Heat – a café offering out the front of PLATFRM, a North Adelaide gym.
Located at 103 Melbourne Street, Heat offers PLATFRM gym-goers, and the wider public, a range of of healthy dishes, smoothies, and juices.
“Heat will be the brand-new locale for everybody. We bring the vibes, you bring the heat,” venue manager Andrew Hang says.
“I want it to be a community hub for people to come in and feel comfortable to sit down have a coffee, bring some friends, either before university or work. I want a smooth and easy transition into the day and for people to start their day off right.”
Andrew says Melbourne Street is often forgotten about in discussions of Adelaide’s hospitality scene, so he hopes Heat will help keep the street alive in contemporary conversation.
Heat, which opens Monday to Sunday from 6:30am ‘til 3pm and seats 60 people, has a brunch-style menu includes smoked trout with poached eggs on a fennel and kohlrabi remoulade, and a brekkie bowl with poached eggs, grilled cauliflower, zucchini and basil cream, with all items designed to be nutrient-rich, for pre- and post-workout crowds.
There are also options for gym junkies with a sweet tooth, such as pastries, or the maple-roasted house granola with coconut yogurt, avocado panna cotta, blue gum honey, hazelnut, and cacao. Coffee comes from local roaster Octeine.
The café is Penny Hospitality’s eighth venture, and as founder Hugo told us in July, there are more yet to come, with the group set to launch eight additional venues in 2022.
