Since opening in late 2016, Karma and Crow quickly positioned itself as a favourite destination amongst those in the café-crawling crowd heading out into the inner west.

Remarks

Karma and Crow is located at 249-251 Richmond Road, Richmond. The café is open from 7:30am until 2:30pm Monday-Wednesday and 7:30am until 3:30pm Thursday-Sunday, and the gift shop opens from 9am until 4pm seven days.

While the food and beverage offering has always been reason enough for frequent return visits (we’re quite partial toward the house made corn bread, as you might recall), with the addition of the Karma and Crow Gift Shop, the business’ proprietor, Janie Kammer, has added one more reason to stop by and linger.

The formerly unused space at the front of the building has been kitted out with a fresh coat of paint and a bunch of locally restored furniture, and is now home to a collection of wares made by local and interstate makers.

“Cafes are an escape for people and so is retail,” Janie says.

“We’re looking for comfort everywhere – in our morning coffee, in our earl grey panna cotta and in our beautifully finished ceramic keep cups. I just wanted to create a space where people could come and feel uplifted and inspired and I hope this little venture employs a sense of comfort for people.”

Janie has drawn on the networks built from the artist community adjoining the café – including items from Sustomi reusable food wraps, XO Flower Co., Etikette candles, Sair Bean, Solomon Street and Olivia Kathigitis – and will continue to expand the collection over the coming weeks.

“As well the store being an aesthetically pleasing and calm space to be in. We have chosen things that have been made with love, with quality and environmental impact in mind,” Janie says.

“We also have a strong theme of sustainability throughout the cafe. We have carried this ethos into the gift shop with a careful selection of products.

“A few of them are brand new in the game and have never wholesaled before, so it’s been really cool to be able to help them get their brand out there. Hopefully it means bigger and better things for Adelaide’s small businesses.”

The Karma and Crow gift shops is open from 9am until 4pm seven days.
