Back after a sell-out inaugural year, cult wine label Alpha Box & Dice is partnering up with local music legends Porch Sessions to bring a bit of sanity to Sea & Vines this weekend.
Alpha Box & Porch Sessions
Bundle up in your warmest wears this weekend and bounce down to McLaren Vale for a mini music festival at Alpha Box & Dice courtesy of The Porch Sessions.
After a sell-out event in 2018, the McLaren Vale winery and nomadic music festival are collaborating on another Alpha Box & Porch event over the June long weekend. Curated by The Porch Session’s Sharni Honor, the line-up features Jordan Ruru and Didier Kumalo (a side project from one of the founders of The Shaolin Afronauts). Sydney artist Milan Ring will also perform, bringing her powerful and personal solo act to the giant Persian rugs of Alpha Box & Porch. We saw Milan Ring at Rocket recently and can say she, alone, is worth the car trip to McLaren Vale.
Saturday June 8, with doors from 12pm and music going to 5pm
Alpha Box & Dice, 8 Olivers Road, McLaren Vale, SA.
Tickets are $35 and are available here
And while this event occurs simultaneously, Alpha Box & Porch operates very much outside of the mayhem and intoxicated mess of Sea & Vines. Alpha Box has a great history of creating unforgettable food and wine events over the years with Neon Lobster at AB&D a landmark event for the, then, emerging wine label.
This year’s food offering is solid with hot-cut slices of Sunny’s Pizza and spicy delicacies from Soi 38 Thai available to soak up the potentially embarrassing quantity of Golden Mullet Fury you consume. The two restaurants have come up with a joint pizza – stir fried beef in yellow curry with lemongrass and basil – which sounds difficult yet delicious to eat.
