CityMag is examining the new frontier of the tattoo industry by visiting Adelaide's best independent, artist-driven small businesses - like House of Daggers.

Simone-Clare Hede (@simone_clare_tattoo), Jamie Brockenbrow (@jamieangustattooer) and Stu Pagdin (@stupagdintattooer) had been working together for a good couple of years before starting up their own studio in House of Daggers.

The three work in distinctive styles which are heavily influenced by traditional aesthetics, but their approach – which involves working with clients closely on a design – is progressive.

House of Daggers regularly hosts international and interstate guests artists and happily send clients to other studios if they want a style other than those in which Jamie, Stu and Simone specialise.

They say they’re happy to do so because, “the younger generation of tattooers want to have a community” not just a business. The trio have recently added a tattoo removal arm to the business to make the process of executing cover-up tattoos easier.
