The Magpie and The Flames
We hear about bushfires every year, so much so that we sometimes forget what it’s like for those experiencing it.
The Magpie and the Flames will be exhibiting at Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider from February 11 to March 14 as part of the Adelaide Fringe. All artworks will be for sale.
The Magpie and The Flames is an exhibition by Daniel Purvis, which explores the events of the 2015 Sampson Flat Fire through the eyes of a magpie and various other characters.
A contemporary artist who utilises a number of different mediums from photography to illustration to design, Dan creates a compelling narrative with his work. This exhibition will be a showcase of his ink works, which are inspired by the story of Kersbrook Hill Wines & Cider owner Paul Clark, who experienced the disaster firsthand and saw how it affected the community.
Accompanying the artworks is a short story written by Nicola Gage, who experienced many fires throughout her career as a journalist.
