The Jesus and Mary Chain is one of those bands that remain eternally cool.

Discovered by successive generations riffling through their parents’ vinyl – or via the soundtrack of Sofia Coppola’s Lost In Translation – their melange of melody and noise is an eternal siren to the youth and youthful.

Their 1985 debut album, Psychocandy, was universally praised by music reviewers and gave birth to classics Just Like Honey and Never Understand. Ditto Darklands, which spawned the singles April Skies and Happy When It Rains.

Together with the albums that came later, these songs continue to hold up as masterworks of alternative music.

The Jesus and Mary Chain is touring Australia with just one Adelaide show. We suspect it’s going to be massive.
