This may just be the rose-tinted view of a mid-range Millennial (1988 vintage) – one who learned of the concept of national leadership as Keating was in power – but the vicious and highly quotable wit of PM PK is of a higher order than the cynical and histrionic pantomiming of our current political crop.

What have these last few rounds of protests across the country been but a country collectively channelling PK-brand contempt for conservative politics. Unrepresentative swill, indeed.

Lucky then that some clever writer-actor – Newcastle-born Jonathan Biggins – has created for us an alternate future to escape into, one in which Keating might rescue us from the current crisis of stagnant national leadership.

The 2022 election could not be further away.
