The Coen Bros at Cinémathèque
Swinging wildly yet seamlessly between claustrophobic violence and side-splitting humour, the Coen Brothers can and will do every job on set to bring their unique vision to the screen.
Making movies together since childhood – the pair were immediately noticed upon the release of their 1984 debut Blood Simple. With films that show as much concern for complex, genre-driven scripts as they do for character actors and fine cinematography the Coens have staked out a position as America’s finest independent production team. The Mercury Cinema presents a trilogy of their films over three nights in May as part of its Cinémathèque program.
Blood Simple – May 5, 6.30pm
Fargo – May 8, 6.30pm
The Big Lebowski – May 12, 6.30pm
Cinémathèque membership available from Mercury Cinema.
