The Boxing Day Cup

  • Words: Elaine Cheng

Boxing Day is the time when the shopping frenzy prompts you to lock yourself up in the comfort of your home and let the day pass you by as you lounge in front of the TV, flicking through endless channels of long ads between the cricket games.

Remarks

The Boxing Day Cup will be held at Bonython Park on December 26th from 11am to 6pm. Entry is free! And so is the wifi.

Luckily, here in Adelaide, there’s a way to avoid a full day on the couch, and it’s free (and still involves Cricket)! Since 2013, The Boxing Day Cup has been bringing your favourite local musicians and bartenders to the cricket pitch for a glorious match between The Rockatoos (musicians) and The Eagle Blues (bartenders).

From 11am to 6pm, Bonython Park will be filled with music, beer, and BBQs. All proceeds will be donated to Reclink Australia, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing art and sport programs to those living with disadvantages.

There’s nothing better than sharing a drink and a snag with that charming bartender you see every Friday night, or that singer who gets you dancing at every gig. Out of their natural habitats, you’ll see a side of them that no one else has seen, be it their fiercely competitive side or just their sweaty back side, it’s a chance you don’t want to miss.
