Fascinated by the nature of dreaming and the lack of rationale that comes with it, 18^th century Spanish artist, Francisco Goya, created The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters – an etching featuring a flock of owls and bats encroaching on the sleeping artist.

Exploring this theme further, Olivia Kubiak has curated an exhibition of Adelaide artists, all drawing on their experience of dreams, nightmares, and the thoughts that flood in when reason is at rest.
