Award-winning playwright Emily Steel (Euphoria, 19 Weeks and How Not To Make It In America) returns with The Garden, a searing drama about communities big and small and how we treat each other across borders and garden plots – real and imagined.

Evelyn is the volunteer coordinator of a community garden. She’s a single mum with a lot on her plate. Adam is a refugee on a humanitarian visa. He wanders into the garden one day with the hope of becoming their newest member.

But not all members are treated equal.

As the seasons change and vegetables grow, the unlikely pair unearth uneasy tensions bubbling just beneath the soil and reckon with truths that smash through borders and transcend cultures.

This world premiere from Theatre Republic features Rashidi Edward and Elizabeth Hay and is directed by Corey McMahon.
