In the world of classical music, the same can be said of women’s contribution to the artistic canon.
Curated by South Australian composer Anne Cawrse, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s She Speaks is a powerful celebration of female composers and musicians.
Anne will use this event to cut a wide swathe through classical music from mid-19th century to today, championing work composed by female musicians.
She Speaks will see four performances by the ASO, with the eponymous performance sitting alongside Domestic Voices, When we Speak and Silent Women Symposium.
The program is a blunt yet topical curatorial work, providing inspiration for a new generation of women artists.
