Release

Saturday, 3 July 2021

  • Main image: Thomas McCammon

NOTE: This event has been postponed following this week’s announcement of new coronavirus restrictions.

As heralded in our earlier piece on Sidney McMahon’s ACE Open exhibition, Of sorrow and release, the show will end this weekend with a lot of mess and noise.

Remarks

Release: Closing Night Party
9pm ’til 12am Saturday, 3 July
ACE Open
Lion Arts Centre
North Terrace, Adelaide 5000
More info

New coronavirus restrictions have been announced. See the SA Government’s COVID-19 website for updates.

The closing night party is called Release and will see ACE Open transform into a queer nightclub for a night.

Sidney and the ACE Open crew invite you to “partake in a communal process of letting go, processing and coming together through dance, tattoos and tarot reading.”

There will be music from DJs Strict Face, Lakota and Cortex; Poko Ono is on board to provide tattoos (only five or six will occur on the night, and these will be randomly selected from those who register ahead of time); and Joel Valentine will provide tarot readings to those interested in seeking that particular type of insight and/or guidance.

The Release party also comes with its own merch, designed by SickNasty and available to purchase on the night.

For more information, visit the event page.

You can register your attendance here (though it is a free event).

And if you want to get your name in the hat for a tattoo with Poko Ono, register here.
