Ballett Zürich will make their Australian debut at the Adelaide Festival in 2023 with Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi.

Verdi’s mighty Requiem is a sacred oratorio with opera coursing through its veins. It runs the gamut from whispered pianissimos to some of the most shattering climaxes ever written. Acclaimed choreographer Christian Spuck thrusts this already spectacular work into a new orbit, giving physical shape to every contour of the composer’s score.

Over 200 singers, musicians and dancers will bring this work to vivid life – four stunning solo vocalists, an eighty-strong choral ensemble, 36 Ballett Zürich dancers and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Together, they poignantly express Verdi’s vision of death as every individual’s most solitary and mysterious challenge.
