Lunar New Year

  • Words: Alicia Franceschini

The year of the Monkey is now upon us and to help celebrate head on down to Moonta Street, Chinatown and Gouger Street this Saturday for the annual Lunar New Year Street Party. The streets will be lined with stalls and food trucks featuring delicious food and arts and crafts from a range of Asian cultures.

Remarks

Lunar New Year Street Party will take place on Saturday February 13 from 12pm to 10:30pm at Moonta Street, Chinatown and Gouger Street, Adelaide. Entry is free.

The festivities run from 12pm, all day and well into the night. Entertainment is set to include the visually striking and much loved lion dances, as well as cultural dances, instrumentals, martial arts, k-pop, and indigenous dance.

The celebration, which last year drew 20,000 people, creates an electric atmosphere that will ensure a good time for everyone, no matter if you were born under the sign of the monkey, goat or horse.
