The team at Greenock winery Alkina have a particular fondness for grenache, which the team posits “may just be the hottest red variety in South Australia today”.

For Tasting Australia, which kicks off this week, a range of wineries are participating in a Festival of Grenache, during which Alkina is inviting you to get Lost in the FoG (geddit?).

Alkina’s chefs will be cooking over fire, putting together an Argentinian-style menu. The event will feature blind tasting challenges, DJs, and, of course, plenty of wine – including Alkina’s Old Quarter GSM and a few straight-up grenache selections from the winery’s sub-label, Kin.

There will also be drops available from Bekkers, JC’s Own, Kalleske, Ministry of Clouds, Swinney, Thistledown, Tonic, Vanguardist, Yalumba and Yangarra.

The number of wines confirmed for the event so far numbers more than 50, so if you’re as grenache-mad as the wineries listed above, secure yourself a ticket now.
