So much of our Christmas iconography comes from a country with which we have very little in common.

The American tradition of gathering around a hearth, everyone wrapped up in a gaudy wool sweater, sipping eggnog while singing carols is familiar, but a picture far removed from the 40º Australian summer experience.

And so there is plenty of space for our own holiday traditions to be founded and exalted, and the good folk at LOC Bottle Bar are getting us started this year, serving up a festive sausage sizzle on the night before Christmas.

Chef Maria Delaga will cook up some snags, LOC’s founder Olivia Moore will crack some party wines, and we can all gather ’round the barbecue and share stories of the year now gone.

LOC’s Christmas Eve Sausage Sizzle will run from 4pm ’til late on Thursday, 24 December (duh). Walk-ins only.
