What's On

Justin Hermes Design studio sale

On more than one occasion, CityMag has directed readers’ eyes toward the fine work of Justin Hermes, who builds furniture from timber sourced only from trees that have fallen or otherwise been removed (i.e. not cut down for the purpose of being made into furniture).

The result is a range of pieces each with knots, divots and grain patterns unique to the one object.

Remarks

Justin Hermes Design studio spring clean sale

12 Logan Street, Adelaide

Friday, 19 October 4pm to 8pm
Saturday, 20 October 10am to 4pm

“They’re called ‘imperfections’, but I like to think of them as features… The most expensive timber is perfect – but it looks like a veneer, which doesn’t really excite me as much,”
Justin told us back in 2014.

Justin will soon be moving out of his Logan Street studio, bound for the Hills, and so he’s put together a little spring cleaning shindig this weekend, Friday, 19 October from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday, 20 October from 10am to 4pm, where you could grab a Justin Hermes design at a special buy-this-so-I-don’t-have-to-move-it-myself price.

There will be Freddy Nerks available by the glass, and Justin’s wrangled a few of his designer mates to make a proper go of it – so you can match your Justin Hermes chair/table/bench with an item from Morgan Allender, Aburi Ceramics, Hunt Furniture, Huw McConachy or Debbie Pryor.

Go along and grab some Adelaide-made furnishings while the price is right!
