Just Eat It – A food waste story

Dumpster diving isn’t appetising to everyone, but this Canadian film makes as good an argument for the practice as has been seen on big screens.

Remarks

Just Eat It screens at 7.30pm on Friday, November 27 at The Joinery – 111 Franklin Street, Adelaide.

Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to OzHarvest. Bring a plate to be part of the shared dinner.

Created by filmmakers Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer, the documentary follows the pair as they spend six months attempting to eat nothing but discarded food (and that made for them by friends and family). As they entertainingly navigate the practices of scavenging, they also explore the issues that are brought up by their findings through a series of interviews with experts and industry.

Hosted by the Adelaide Natural Resource Centre at The Joinery – a facility where sustainability organisations and the community can collaborate  – the Adelaide screening of Just Eat It will be accompanied by a shared, bring a plate community dinner and all proceeds go to OzHarvest, an organisation that collects excess food and distributes it to people who need it.
