Format Systems presents Deviate, a collaborative exhibition by South Australian artists Rhiannon Jones and Carly Snoswell – both of whom have a strong focus on process-based scultptural works.

Remarks

Deviate opens 6pm Thursday, July 7and is on show until July 28 at Format Systems – 80 Hindley Street, Adelaide. Gallery hours are 12pm – 4pm weekdays.

Rhiannon Jones
Through an appreciation (and slightly overwhelming sense) of the time, rigour and fragility within the work, Rhiannon Jones encourages the viewer to seek a reason and understanding to the “how” and “why” of its creation, whilst also being denied a logical answer. By creating these conflicts Jones hopes to encourage the viewer to mentally and physically engage/interact with the work and the space it occupies.

Carly Snoswell
Carly Snoswell’s practice is defined by a constant state of making, accumulating prototypes during a preoccupied moment. By focusing solely on one action, and revealing as much of the making process as possible, Snoswell calls attention to the act of making. Utilising craft techniques and repetition as a release from anxiety, she creates her own form of meditation, a channel for unease generating unexpected results.
