Alexandra Bellas’ Christmas art installation

From Tuesday, 29 November, to Wednesday, 4 January, Adelaide-based visual artist and muralist, Alexandra Bellas, is exhibiting a series of artwork installations at the Memorial Gardens, in front of Norwood Oval.

While creating “something seasonal… I tried to steer away from the typical Christmas colours and instead used lots of bright blues and pinks that are energising,” says Alexandra.

This pop-up display has brought considerable Christmas joy to the western end of The Parade, inviting visitors to share their photos on social media by tagging #christmasonparade.

Brighten The Parade

To add to the festive cheer, the council has invited school students to “collaborate” with Alexandra by adding their own twist to her template.

Look out for the colourful adaptations of the artist’s work in participating businesses along The Parade.

Walk Through a Christmas Wonderland

On the way to visiting the art installations, make sure to visit the festive forest of plywood Christmas trees, which have been decorated by local schoolchildren and presented in the open-air Festival Gallery on Osmond Terrace.

The Christmas trees and abstract shapes contain festive symbols, including candy canes, baubles, bonbons and a Christmas hat.

Vote for your favourite in the People’s Choice Award to help one lucky school win a $500 Parade gift card.

Setting the perfect table and festive boards

A team of expert stylists from The Parade have assembled six easy-to-replicate festive table and boards to impress your guests at Christmas lunch.

The team draws on the natural tones of an ‘Australiana Christmas’ by incorporating timber chairs from Outdoors On Parade, bonbons from Country Road and floral arrangements from The Flower Parade, which accompany a festive charcuterie board of Christmas favourites from Foodland and Metro Fresh.

There is also a ‘Scandi Christmas’ theme, featuring white tablecloths and napkins from Wheel & Barrow, matching cutlery from Minimax, and table decorations from Bed Bath N’ Table, complementing the vibrant sweets on the festive dessert board.

For a burst of colour, Outdoors On Parade’s bold fuchsia napkins, violet ribbed candles, colourful cutlery, bonbons, and The Flower Parade’s waratahs are paired with a bright plant-based grazing board, with indulgent items from Let Them Eat and Metro Fresh.
