The museum offers an educational tour using audio and visual storytelling with sound and screen installations to celebrate the life of educator, social reformer and saint – Mary MacKillop.
Winner of the 2022 Eastside Business Award for Best Arts & Culture/Entertainment Experience, the museum tells many stories among which is the story of ten pioneering Sisters of St Joseph who joined Mary’s mission to provide Catholic education and pastoral care to children and others in need.
Museum Director Mary Ryan says there’s something for everyone no matter their age or background.
“Mary was a saint for all Australians, not just Catholics!” she says.
Visitors can follow the experience with a trip to the souvenir shop and refreshments at the adjoining award-winning High Street Café.
The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am ’til 4pm. You can book a guided walking tour here.
