For the first time in more than a decade, South Australia’s flagship theatre and opera companies co-present a spectacular concert version of Bernstein’s comic operetta Candide.

Buckle up to hear the story of naïve Candide, in love with beautiful Cunegonde, and their misfit band of friends as they embark on an adventure of a lifetime from Germany to Paris, from Venice to South America.

Starring some of Australia’s most celebrated musical theatre and opera stars including Alexander Lewis, Annie Aitken, John Longmuir alongside Adelaide cabaret darling Hans and West End and Broadway titan Caroline O’Connor.

STCSA’s Artistic Director, Mitchell Butel, assumes the role of Candide’s teacher Pangloss, and also co-directs alongside Amy Campbell. State Opera’s Head of Music Anthony Hunt conducts the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and the State Opera Chorus, bringing Bernstein’s sparkling score to life.
