Hop a tram to Glenelg to witness this spectacular celebration of dance, storytelling, live music and theatre that will open the 2024 Adelaide Festival.

As the sun sets, the world premiere of Baleen Moondjan will rise from the sands of Glenelg/Pathawilyangga beach among giant, sculptural whale bones, telling the story of a proud Elder, a curious granddaughter and the day a baleen whale comes close to shore.

Directed by creative visionary Stephen Page AO in his first major commission since leaving Bangarra Dance Theatre, Baleen Moondjan is a celebration of our First Nations’ stories and culture, the bonds between humans and animals, and the sacred resilience of Country.
