Artist talk with Damien Shen
There’s a lot of things you could do in your lunch break – get some exercise, call your parents, buy those new sheets you’ve been meaning to buy. But mostly what you do is sit at your desk.
Damien Shen’s artist talk takes place at 12.15pm on Monday, July 4 at the Level 1 foyer of the Town Hall. It is part of the Lord Mayor’s morning tea and flag raising ceremony to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2016.
Next week, the Adelaide City Council is giving you a good reason to get up and leave. On July 4, the Town Hall will be hosting a lunchtime artist talk with Damien Shen.
Damien’s exhibition, The People Who Belong to This Land, is currently showing at the Town Hall. In it, Damien has called upon his experience as a man of Ngarrindjeri and Chinese descent to interpret contemporary Australian identity. Through the mediums of charcoal, pastel, lithograph and etching, Damien has created portraiture that acts as a counterpoint to the European objectification of the Ngarrindjeri people.
