Aboriginal ANZACS: From South Australia to The Great War
The exhibition is on show at the South Australian Museum on North Terrace from June 23 – August 7.
The history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people fighting alongside other Australians in harsh and bloody battles is long, but often left unexplored.
The SA Museum is this year acknowledging the huge contribution made by these people with an exhibition exploring their experiences.
Telling the story of those who fought on behalf of their country before they were even recognised as citizens, the Museum’s offering features individual accounts that detail how the reality of war affected not just those who left for the front, but also those who were left behind.
