15 years of Vitalstatistix’s Adhocracy in one brilliant weekend
A fixture on the Australian calendar of emerging and experimental art since its inception in 2010, Adhocracy is an opportunity to experience works in progress in an up-close-and-personal, artist-led environment.

Program
For artists, it’s a place to try ideas, and Adhocracy projects often go on to further development and extensive national performance seasons. So far, Vitalstatistix’s national hothouse has supported over 170 projects and more than 400 artists.
This year, Adhocracy is curated by Vitals’ newly appointed artistic director Jennifer Greer Holmes and long-term collaborator Jason Sweeney. In a fashion befitting the celebratory and reflective nature of this anniversary year, the curators have selected the 2024 projects from the cohort of previous participants.
Over 50 experimental artists from across the country will show their new work over the three days – including SA’s Ellen Steele, Emma Beech, Astrid Pill, Stephen Sheehan and Jingwei Bu, WA/TAS duo Pony Express and Sydney’s Branch Nebula.
This year’s projects include themes of urban ecology, gender, collectivism, community, celebration, recovery, resilience, family, utopias and resistance.
It’s a festival of ideas and an art party, prioritising provocation, exploration and challenging work. Don’t miss out!
