The best suit you can buy is one that works in every situation

There’s nothing more empowering than finding your feet in a new job and discovering your voice in that important meeting. What we wear does little to precipitate these occasions, but a well-chosen uniform – no matter what realm you work in – will certainly signal to others you mean business.

The world of work is changing and so are our wardrobes. Choosing a modern uniform for whatever profession you find yourself in can be as simple as starting with a well-constructed, custom-made jacket.

“There are layers to perception,” says Dan Harkin managing partner of Oscar Hunt in Adelaide. “The right jacket can take you from the boardroom to the bar or back to the drawing board if that’s where you work. A good jacket should be able to flex with the situation you put it in.”

We first met Dan during a trunk show in Adelaide. A trunk show is how some tailors move around the country / world, visiting their clients and kitting them out with new workwear.

Fortunately for us, Dan and his tailoring are now a permanent fixture in Adelaide, as we reported earlier this year, with Oscar Hunt setting up on The Parade.

Dan has such an easy way of taking you through the tailoring process. He takes all the pretension out of it and focuses instead on what you need to get out of a suit, or a jacket, or even a shirt.

Dan says the Oscar Hunt approach to menswear is all about fitting in with what their clients do and giving them the clothes that make them feel great when they’re at work.

“What we do for work is what’s important,” says Dan. “The clothes we’re wearing should support that without distracting anyone – least of all the person wearing them.”

Good tailoring – like good design – works well and this is why it’s powerful.

The tailored approach to building your wardrobe doesn’t have to start with double-breasted pin stripes, peaked lapels and pocket squares. Tailor-made is about helping you create a uniform you can put on every day with utter confidence and know it’ll get the job done and look good whilst doing it.

To celebrate the launch of Oscar Hunt in Adelaide, the team are giving away a tailored suit to one lucky local. The suit, valued at $1,799, will also be paired with an Oscar Hunt tailored shirt. You can enter the competition here.

But if competitions aren’t your thing, you can make a no-obligations appointment to visit Dan at the stunning Oscar Hunt showroom on The Parade, Norwood, and learn more about what modern tailoring looks like and how you can build a more versatile wardrobe today.
