Record Store Day for 2024 is this Saturday so CityMag waxes lyrical with a round-up of ways to celebrate in Adelaide.
What to do this Record Store Day
Record Store Day (RSD) is this Saturday so CityMag has compiled a list of independent record stores in Adelaide celebrating the international festive event.
Happy record shopping.
CLARITY RECORDS
60 Pulteney Street, Adelaide 5000
Clarity Records will continue its tradition of opening at midnight on Friday, April 19 and will be open ‘till 6pm on Saturday. On offer this year at Clarity is an extensive collection of special RSD vinyl releases, a limited-edition Clarity Record RSD 2024 tee with artwork from Billie Justice Thomson, over 2000 second-hand records and the infamous RSD vegan cupcakes.
GORDY BOY RECORDS
L1/104G Gay’s Arcade, Adelaide 5000
Gordy Boy Records in Gay’s Arcade is the new kid in town when it comes to record stores. To celebrate their first RSD, there will be a special meet and greet with the store’s namesake, the eight-year-old Schnauzer Gordon Bennet. You can also take part in a quiz and enter the draw for a $100 voucher, try one of their tasty RSD cupcakes, or peruse the numerous discounted new and second-hand LPs.
Mr V Music
115 Semaphore Road, Semaphore 5019
Mr V Music at Semaphore is a household name in the Adelaide vinyl scene. To celebrate this year’s RSD, they’re offering some great bargains from artists such as Neil Young and At the Drive-In. Mr V Music will open at 9am this Saturday and will have something for everyone, no matter your music tastes.
Crackle & Pop Records
123 O’Connell Street, North Adelaide 5006
Everyone’s favourite pop-up record store, Crackle Pop Records, will be popping up at the Royal Oak Hotel this RSD. When the clock strikes midnight, you can purchase your favourite vinyl right up until 2am. There will be drink specials and DJs to keep the party going.

Underground Records
78A Prospect Road, Prospect 5082
Run, don’t walk to Underground Records this RSD. The team has promised to open up their collection ‘From The Vault’, which includes print releases. Also, they’re chucking an extra 40 per cent off their clearance sale, all in the name of RSD.
Sustainable Clothing Co.
24A Charles Street, Adelaide 5000
Although Sustainable Clothing Co. don’t typically play in the vinyl category, they don’t want to miss out on the RSD fun. In doing so, they’re promising 5 per cent off their records and CDs as they recognise the staff, customers, and artists who make the independent record store world go round.
