Coffee meets cocktail

Two CityMag favourites - Please Say Please and Proof - are teaming up to bring you three wonderful evenings of coffee-inspired cocktails in a special event this month.

There’s a weird time each day (let’s say about 4pm) where the circle that represents “appropriate time for coffee drinking” intersects with the circle that represents “appropriate time for cocktail drinking”. A soon-to-pop-up bar conceived by Proof and Please Say Please will celebrate this glorious intersection.

Operating for just three days from Thursday, February 26 to Saturday, February 28 the collaboration will see Please Say Please’s tiny Grenfell Street space transformed into a cocktail bar from 4pm each day.

All drinks served will be inspired by and made from a base of coffee or tea.

“We’re going to do more than one espresso martini,” says Please Say Please owner Dan Freer.

“And we’ll be doing a G&T, as in T-E-A, as in gin and iced tea, as well as quite a few other bits and pieces.”

Entry will be via the side door – meaning you can casually stroll past the coffee machine on your way to sample some of its product.

Licensed for just 20 punters at a time, we’re thinking the hole-in-the-wall space will fill quickly and rarely empty out so best be at the ready if you want to sample what Dan calls “a great marriage of good cocktails and good coffee”.
