The Sydney-based former head chef of Restaurant Hubert and founder of Alberto's Lounge, Dan Pepperell, is plating up Italian delights at Sunny's on Sunday night.
Alberto’s Lounge’s Dan Pepperell is cooking at Sunny’s this weekend
Sunny’s Pizza on Solomon Street loves to get around a collab, and this weekend, on Sunday, 24 November, the clubstraunt is teaming up with Sydney wine lovers Nattie By Nature for an Italo-disco and chef collab with Alberto’s Lounge chef Dan Pepperell.
“I am good friends with the guys from Nattie By Nature. The boys asked me if I was keen to do something with them in Adelaide and proposed the Sunny’s pop-up idea, sounded like a heap of fun so I jumped straight onto it,” Dan tells CityMag via email.
“[Adelaide has] lots of amazing new places to eat and drink. I’ve never been so really excited to see what’s happening.”
Nattie By Nature have announced the menu will have “some incredible dishes paying tribute to Adelaide’s past, but with [Dan’s] own spin.”
“The Sunny’s guys will have a few of the menu dishes on this menu, alongside my dishes,” Dan says. “It hasn’t been a collaborative process as such but are very excited to see what they have come up with.”
Both Dan’s former workplace, Restaurant Hubert, and Alberto’s Lounge are part of the Sydney hospitality group Swillhouse, which also counts cult bar Shady Pines amongst its stable.
Nattie By Nature, too, shares some Swillhouse DNA, having been founded by former Shady Pines manager Alen Nikolovski.
On the topic of wine, the Sunny’s collab will also feature a South Australia-heavy lineup of Nattie By Nature-approved wines, including Yetti & The Kokonut, BK Wines, Acto of Wine, Ochota Barrels, Smallfry, Somos, Jauma, Commune of Buttons, Borachio, Good Intentions Wine Co, VHS, The Other Right, DAS Juice, and Ngeringa.
There are three sittings available for the Sunny’s x Nattie By Nature x Dan Pepperell dinner, at 3pm, 5pm, and 7:30pm, and kick-ons will be happening late into the AM at 1000 Island next door.
