Our Future Edition is on streets now

Pick us up for visions of a future Adelaide.

A CityMag summer edition is always the most fun to put together.

Not only can we feel the weather gradually warming and the holidays slowly approaching as we lay out each page, but it’s an edition that stretches from December into February, meaning part of the job is to envision what the New Year will bring.

This year, we dove directly into these imaginations to create our 2022/23 Future Edition.

We’ve investigated what a future Rundle Mall might look like in a post-online-shopping, pandemic-inflected retail environment; spent some time with Premier Peter Malinauskas to reveal what progress means to South Australia’s new leader; got to know some of the players in Adelaide’s emerging Web3 industry; and we took a trip out to Mount Gunson to look at a degrading copper mine to find out whether we’re properly caring for the land as we draw important resources from it.

These stories will appear on this very website in the weeks and months to come, but nothing beats the feeling of paper between your fingers, flicking through a long read while sipping on your beverage of choice alfresco at your favourite bar, café or patch of grass.

Swing by 165 Grenfell Street and pick up a mag from the stand out front of our office (while we have them in stock), or keep an eye out for our excellent cover by artist Mickey Mason at venues throughout the city and suburbs.

You’ll also get to feel the future of CityMag, printed on new paper stock. The past year has been terrible for the printing industry, one of the consequences of which was our old stock became unavailable. We’ve made the best of this bad situation by levelling up our paper game. You’ll see the difference when flipping through the eye-catching pages.

Happy reading!
