Dads make the fashion world go 'round.

  • Story: Sharmonie Cockayne

The only people who are doing dad fashion well in Adelaide are the dads.

That’s a lie, but it’s a bold, cool-sounding statement, right?

There are some super tapped-in kids doing it, but it’s harder to find in the uber commercial environment of Rundle Mall. Perhaps I need go spend time at Adelaide University to find the fashion I’m looking for.

The reason for my paternal waffling is because Spring 2019 Menswear is showing at the moment, and it’s all my (and the fashion world’s) eyes have seen lately, hence my search for it in the streets.

And, hence my many photos of daggy old men.

Adelaide does not deserve this Lemaire model.

Young man does dad fashion while young woman in background eats Whopper.

You know a trend (teddybear jacket) is peaking when your grandma wears it. Props to all the groovy grandmas out there.

Pom poms and culottes and vans and potentially an Acne-like scarf.

Everything about this is great. First person to email me the meaning of LUCKPSALTER wins a prize.

The whole outfit was great, but the details in the back won it.

Colour on colour vs black on black.

The colour palette feels Cos-like.

His hat is Dickies and his jeans cuff looks a very on-purpose length.

This man is the inspiration behind all trends right now.

Lips and headscarf.

Everything about this is good. Especially the coat.

This lady’s dress reminds me of that Zara dress that every human owns.

White jumper – risky.

She makes trackies look cool, and her package matches her socks.

The bag. If you know you know. (AND THE UGG BOOTS)
