CityMag Style Sample #02: The gentleman

Inspired by you.

  • Words and sartorial spotting: Sharmonie Cockayne
  • Pictures: Samantha Herbut

Our second week into the Style Sample, we walked through the city streets looking for something new, different and bold. But, instead, we found something familiar.

Remarks

A lot of people have inspired our new series – the CityMag Style Sample. There’s the work of Bill Cunningham, the work of Tommy Ton, The Sartorialist, and then there’s you.

There was something in the way Adelaide dressed this week that had us feeling nostalgic for our grandfather’s old-worldly wardrobe. Structured shoulders, heavy overcoats, pinstripes, loafers, the tailored trouser and the woollen beret – some adorned men, some women; a gentleman’s attire doesn’t discriminate.
