The idyllic European-style family home is a love letter to suburbia and functional, cost-effective home designs.
Experience Metricon’s award-winning Santorini display home
It’s an example of the type of modern living and stylish design that stands out in suburban Adelaide.
But as its designer attests, the award-winning Santorini 29 by Metricon Homes is much more than just your run-of-the-mill display house.

The Santorini 29 is one of Metricon Homes’ most sophisticated display homes, built within the Miravale Estate, just outside of the Adelaide Plains town of Angle Vale, about a 40 minute drive from the CBD.
Nestled among the orchards inside a budding community, the home is turning heads amongst design-conscious first homebuyers for its modern appeal and affordable price tag.
Metricon Homes design director Adrian Popple says the four-bedroom, single-storey home is one of 13 styles in the Santorini range, and the bold lines, luxurious fixtures and polished timber offer a “step up in life”.
“You can’t underestimate the Santorini’s street presence,” Adrian says, adding that the light-filled home is designed for a 16m-wide allotment.
“Street presence is one of the key features due to the home’s width at 14.75m. With double-fronted rooms and central entry, it makes a real statement.”
“The central living, kitchen, dining and rumpus room opens onto a covered outdoor room, which is another key feature of the Santorini and why this design has been so successful for more than a decade.
“[It’s about] functional design with an abundance of living zones that suit a variety of lifestyles, along with loads of storage.”
As you enter the home, the hotel-style master bedroom draws your attention, complete with a spacious ensuite. Across from the master bedroom is an elegant sitting room.
The kitchen features a walk-in, functional butler’s pantry, and is the focal point of the house. The kitchen opens up onto a roomy family space and ample dining area.
The clever design features a hidden wing behind the kitchen, containing three bedrooms, a large bathroom, powder room and a laundry.
The home is styled to capture lots of natural light, giving it a light, bright aesthetic.
The Santorini 29 is part of Metricon Homes’ Freedom range. Adrian says this range provides home buyers with variety and quality at an affordable price.
“We have a large range of homes that suit different size blocks, customer needs and lifestyles,” Adrian says.
“We also have an extensive range of design options that extend the flexibility of the Santorini range.”
It’s the Santorini 29’s design options and flexibility that earned it the ‘Best Display Home’ award in its respective category at this year’s Master Builders SA Building Excellence Awards.
In awarding Metricon, Master Builders SA said the home “impressed” with its demonstration of “great design and functionality as well as outstanding value for money”.
“The home shows excellence in terms of all finishes and boasted an extremely high standard for brickwork, painting and tiling,” judges said.
Metricon Homes SA general manager Richard Bryant praised the Santorini 29 design as one of the company’s “most popular”.
“It is much loved by young and established families alike,” Richard says.
“With a flexible floor plan, you can easily move between three or four bedroom options, and it is outstanding value for money.”
