Riverland wine takes a turn for the juicier.
Delinquente’s new “Freaky Red”
Greg Grigoriou’s latest release under his weird and visceral wine label – Delinquente – is incredible.
Try Delinquente
Freaky Red at the following quality establishments:
Clever Little Tailor
Etica
Low & Slow
Sunny’s Pizza
Gone are the mongrel faces (bye bye Pretty Boy), this time Delinquente’s resident artist – Jason Koen – portrays a dense and intricate scene from some dystopic alt-reality. Jason’s illustration, called Internal Purgatory wraps around the body of the bottle and gives you many minutes distraction while you sip the incredibly vibrant and juicy red.
In fact, the illustration is all the information you’re going to get. Freaky Red’s label will neither tell you it’s 50 per cent Montepulciano nor that it’s 50 per cent Nero D’Avola. What it will tell you is that the Erawirung are the traditional custodians and owners of the Riverland and Delinquente respects that.
Worth trying for the ruby red colour alone, this fun take on the surging wave of natural wine is as good as anything you might have sampled at the recent Basket Range Festival. The ferment combined the two varieties as whole bunches before being plonked in seasoned oak and aged for nine months.
Greg’s only made 52 dozen of this wine and we can tell you that his distributor in Japan tried to buy all 52 dozen.
Lucky for you, Greg didn’t sell it to Japan and you’ll be able to access this yummy drop locally at Clever Little Tailor, Etica, Low & Slow and right around the corner from us at Sunny’s Pizza.
