Waite 100 Gala is one of those rare gatherings that can carry the moniker ‘event of the century’.

The black-tie gala will celebrate 100 years of innovation in Australian food and wine that has come out of the University of Adelaide’s Waite Campus. And it promises to be pretty special…

Chef Matt Moran and sushi master Narito Ishii will craft a culinary experience like no other, featuring exotic ingredients developed by the University of Adelaide Waite’s researchers, such as hempseed and faba beans.

There’ll be premium wines from a range of emerging, mid-career and legacy alumni winemakers – such as Peter Fraser from Yangarra Estate Vineyard and Emma Wood from Wirra Wirra Vineyard – all showcasing Waite’s influence on viticulture. Plus, the night will see the launch of the Waite 100 Commemorative Whisky, crafted from the finest barley.

And if that’s not enough – opera lovers are in for a memorable night with baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes performing live.

Proceeds from auctions at the event will support the University of Adelaide’s ‘Peter Waite Centenary Scholarship for Excellence in Agriculture’.
