Ring in the Lunar New Year with a big bang at the annual Dragon Year Chinatown Street Party. Expect an unforgettable day of traditional performances and joyous celebrations with the iconic backdrop of the Chinatown arch. Admission to this extravaganza is free. It is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the tapestry of Asian culture with 80 speciality stalls and food trucks, live music, traditional and cultural performances and the much-anticipated Dragon dance.

Lunar New Year Family Workshops

Her Majesty’s Theatre, Saturday, February 17

Her Majesty’s Theatre is embarking on a mythical journey to celebrate the Year of the Dragon with a range of different events set for all ages. Discover the art of brewing the perfect cup of tea and learn about the significance of this ancient tradition at the tea-rrific interactive traditional tea ceremony by Chinese-Australian artist Jingwei Bu. Whether you are a seasoned dancer or a fresh beginner, there’s a 60-minute K-Pop dance workshop by Dopamin Studio that is sure to help you get your groove on. For the little ones, it is a special workshop where they can unleash their creativity as they bring to life their own dragon with accomplished visual artist Datsun Tran.
