No explanation was given for the headliner’s last-minute cancellation in an email sent to ticket holders on Thursday afternoon, but organisers told CityMag that she had to withdraw for “personal reasons”.
She will be replaced by West African artist DJ Daiki who was already booked to play the festival’s late night ‘Unsound Club’ this evening.
DJ Diaki will play a solo show in bbymutha’s place at the Dom Polski Centre, and he will be joined by Ugandan artist Otim Alpha for a “unique, one-off set” at The Lab for Unsound Club.
The rest of Friday’s lineup remains unchanged, with Ukranian electronic music composer Heinali, Denmark-based Sofie Birch, Polish artist Antonina Nowacka, Australian audio-visual artist Robin Fox and Hyperdub label head Kode9 to perform at Dom Polski.
Friday’s Unsound Club will feature a range of DJs including Female Wizard, Huerco.S and C.FRIM in addition to DJ Diaki and Otim Alpha.
