With Bastille Day tomorrow, we’ve done the work so you can fill your day, and stomach, with all things French.

It may no longer be revolutionary but for some reason France’s la fête nationale captures the imagination of people across the world, and we’re no exception.

From food to fashion, here are five ways to get a little taste of Paris in your life in – finally – sunny Adelaide.

1  French Laundry

Look the part with a trip to French Laundry at 2/105 Gray Street. There will sure to be something in the racks of quality, pre-loved clothing to inspire. Open from 12:30-7:00pm tomorrow, so head here first to get the mood right.

2  Adelaide Central Market

Celebrating across two days, Bastille au Marché will have something for everyone. Get your hands on some traditional baguettes and cheese, or if you have more of a sweet tooth, you can’t look past the assortment of macarons, croissants and other French treats. Check out the champagne bar before joining the paint ‘n’ sip class in the evening. Open from 7:00am to 9:00pm on 14 and from 7:00am to 3:00pm on 15 July with free live music both days.

3  La Louisiane

For a culinary experience, head over to the new La Louisiane at 89 King William Street for a specially curated menu devoted to French traditions by Head Chef Alexis Besseau. To elevate the experience, La Louisiane will have local duo Nick and Tyler playing live jazz, Burlesque performances by Jamie Alexandra and Lylah Bloom followed by a live cabaret show.

4  La Buvette Drinkery

La Buvette is the ideal place to transport you to France any day of the week. Located at 27 Gresham Street, this modern Parisian bar relishes in French culture… and serves a great Pastis. This Bastille Day, they are serving a set menu at $120pp, where you can indulge in champagne and Crème Brulée. Open from 3pm – 2am, be sure to book a table.

5  Sofitel Adelaide

Adelaide’s only French-inspired hotel is holding a three-course celebration lunch between 12:30-2:30pm for $149pp. Serving a set menu of Terrine de Campagne, Confit de Canard and Tarte au Citron, enjoy your Bastille Day with delectable food accompanied by live music and French wine

If there just isn’t time on your Friday to indulge, hit Les Deux Coqs in Rundle Mall or Hey Jupiter in Ebenezer Place for a quick French fix. Just don’t rip up the cobblestones or light a wheelie bin on fire.
