The Australia Day program 2022 is assisted by the Australian Government through the National Australia Day Council and supported by the Government of South Australia, Department of the Premier and Cabinet. The program is presented in partnership with the City of Adelaide. The Smoking Ceremony is presented in partnership with SA Power Networks and Sarah Constructions.
Stroll through the park and watch the story of the river projected onto a giant water screen, jump into a virtual aquarium with whales and stingrays, see the stories of South Australians projected onto the Adelaide Festival Centre and explore the 9m high AirLume.
Enjoy a drink and a bite to eat while overlooking the attractions along the river.
Start Australia Day with the powerful Smoking Ceremony, hosted by senior Kaurna leaders on Kaurna land at Tarntanya Wama Elder Park.
This is a time for reflection, inclusion, and reconciliation.
Join with our First Nations peoples as a sign of respect and to honour their cultures and elders.
The ceremony will include a speech by Kaurna Elder Rosemary Kudnarto Wanganeen, a performance by renowned musician Nancy Bates and the unveiling of a huge sand painting.
All events to be presented in accordance with current SA Health COVID-19 restrictions.
Please check Australia Day Council of SA website for entry requirements.
