Adelaide’s best anniversary venues

When selecting somewhere to celebrate your anniversary, nothing beats sentimentality. But if you’re looking for a new spot to create memories, our survey respondents have provided some options to consider.

Your favourite anniversary venues

We asked, you responded.

Osteria Oggi

76 Pirie Street, Adelaide

Italian food is not the most original way to celebrate love, but it’s the best choice – and few do it with such a refined modern eye than Osteria Oggi. Plus, the studio -gram fitout make a beautiful backdrop for a couple’s-night-out selfie.

Shōbōsho

17 Leigh Street, Adelaide

While the lighting is low, the energy is high at Shōbōsho, with the action from the kitchen feeding into every other element of the restaurant. And there are few more satisfying ways to end a meal with the person you love than with a glass of sake.

Udaberri

11 Leigh Street, Adelaide

Speaking of sentimentality – it’s more than likely you had your first date at Udaberri (as per our ‘best first date venues’ list), so it only makes sense to return for an anniversary. If you didn’t make it up to a booth on that first date, now’s the time. We’re told they’re perfect for snuggling.

Herringbone

72-74 Halifax Street, Adelaide

After those fun tingly feelings that follow a first date start to mellow, true romantic connection will develop in the creases of life’s quiet moments. If this statement feels true to you, Herringbone is your anniversary venue of choice. The food is homely and unpretentious but is built on a solid bedrock of quality ingredients and skilful technique.

Restaurant Botanic

Plane Tree Drive, Adelaide

Like your relationship, you walk into Restaurant Botanic hoping for – expecting, even – a long and enjoyable experience. Settle in for the ‘long trail’ set menu and be sure to ask politely for a seat by the window to watch the day’s dying light filter through the beautiful scenery outside.

What to drink on your anniversary

A top tip for tipples.

Many of our survey respondents offered Champagne (or anything sparkling) as their pick for an anniversary wine, and yes, of course, that is a very nice idea, but quite predictable.

Respondents also suggested dialling up the sap factor by picking a wine that references your first date, or which was bottled on the year you met. It’s also an opportunity to show your bestie how much you know about them by picking something you know they’ve enjoyed in the past.

Something Sweet

The overwhelming majority of responses suggest ordering tiramisu – the official ‘pick me up’ dessert – but there were also some novel tips for those searching for something different.
