After a year-long dry spell, postcode 5000’s National Wine Centre, on the corner of Hackney Road and Botanic Street, is hosting Sip ‘N’ Sounds – a five-hour event this Sunday showcasing South Australia’s best wine, gin and craft beer.

Although the emphasis is on local booze producers, with 60 brands on-show, this year has been anointed the “Year of South Australian Wine”, with six wine masterclasses hosted by labels such as Clare Valley’s KT, Riverland’s Ricca Terra and Wrattonbully’s Bellwether.

Gin-lovers, fear not; there will also be six gin masterclasses with distilleries such as Kangaroo Island’s KI Spirits, Limestone Coast’s Sinkhole Gin and Adelaide Hills Distillery speaking about how they make their sweet nectar.

National Wine Centre food, led by the kitchen’s executive chef Steven Clarke, will also be available, and DJs and bands such as All About Her Trio and musician Eric Santucci will provide the vibes.

A $35 ticket will get you inside Sip ‘N’ Sounds, a take-home tasting glass, and $8 credit for your first drink. Masterclasses are separate and $75 (but this fee includes your entry ticket).

Wine is available for purchase by the glass or bottle, and gin and tonic and a selection of cocktails are also on the menu. This is an EFTPOS only event.
