Little Bang Brewing is home-delivering hot food and cold beer
SPECIAL REPORT: COVID-19 ADELAIDE
Like the rest of Australia’s food, beverage and hospitality industry, Ryan Davidson from Little Bang Brewing has tuned into every one of the Prime Minister’s intermittent late-night press conferences with bated breath – waiting for word on what new restrictions might be placed on his business.
The last 10 days has seen the Little Bang brewery undergo several pivots, in an effort to keep producing and supplying the high-quality food and highly inventive beer ardent fans of Little Bang have come to expect.
The warehouse has now been converted into a takeaway bottle shop, and Little Bang has also launched an online store, from which you can get the entire Little Bang experience delivered to your doorstep.
Little Bang is now delivering beer across the nation (there’s a $5 delivery fee for Metropolitan Adelaide), as well as a short list of food menu items, designed by chef John McFarlane, available for contactless pick up or delivery, with a flat $5 delivery fee.
The menu features fried cauliflower and buffalo wings, a range of burgers, chips, and a wafu salad – each still drawing from the “Asian-tapas-meets-burger-van” style John set for the kitchen.
The takeaway market has slightly different requirements to the regular dine-in crowd, but the team has worked hard to maintain the characteristics of the Little Bang food offering that its regular clientele have come to love.
“It has been simplified,” Ryan says.
“What’s there is a nice compromise between that budget and ease that you need to do to be a delivery service, and still represents the personality that [John]’s created in our kitchen.”
With a generous range of Little Bang beer also on offer – including half-half cases, if you like a bit of variety – all you need is a bunch of mates set up on Houseparty for a trivia night and you’ve got the entire Little Bang Thursday night experience from the comfort of your living room.

Ryan describes the local response to Little Bang’s new operating reality to date as incredibly heart-warming.
When CityMag stops by (maintaining appropriate social distance), there is a thin but steady flow of customers walking away with four- and six-packs and cartons. And there have been plenty of people making use of the Little Bang website’s new online ordering platform.
“We are already seeing that the bulk of our deliveries are going to locals from our immediate area,” Ryan says.
“I knew we had a good following on this side of town, because it’s where most of the people who come to our place regularly come from, but when it comes to online orders… most of our takeaways and deliveries are two streets away.
“I like to think they wanted to give us the extra five bucks for delivery.”
