Jamie’s Italian has taken over the long abandoned old Westpac Building at 2 King William Street sensitively and successfully, while the Mayfair Hotel is finally bringing new, yet respectful life to the former Colonial Mutual Life Building. With heritage adaptation apparently in vogue, our cartoonist warns that there’s a difference between paying lip service to the value of these architectural examples and truly respecting their worth.
