Late last year, Port Adelaide co-working/creating space Cult & Harper announced its relaunched gallery, Lab of Virtue, and a 12-month exhibition calendar that would take place within the space called Colours.

Each  show will expand on the aesthetic of a different colour. The series started with Red and the second show, happening this Friday, 15 March, will revolve around green.

“I found that removing my distractions from a full colour palette and resourcefully delving into one colour theory, or complementary colour theories, really helped me in times where I was wandering into to many realms across too many platforms,” artist, co-founder of Cult & Harper and Colours curator, Lisa King explains.

“Sitting down with one colour and pushing the ideologies that exist within that colour really excites me and I feel the connection to the work really shows. I basically wanted to translate this metaphor to a curation where I could invite artists to respond in their own way to this idea.

“And here we are – Colours.”

GREEN will showcase 18 international and national artists (including locals Jack Fran, Julia Townsend, Annie Jo Smith, Dave Court, Disco Rice and Lisa King), and the opening night event will also see a screening of the Virgin Australia Melbourne Film Festival short film winner Pastel Lake, created by Georgina Solomon (AKA Lasskaa) and Luke Eblen, which was shot on-site at Cult & Harper.

Cult & Harper’s in-house vegan bakehouse Cherry Darlings will be running into the evening and the bar will be running throughout the event, so head along for your art fix this weekend.
