World Gin Day
Gin is a truly trans-seasonal spirit.
Whether it’s hot or cold outside, the warming, cooling, and all-round relaxing juniper-based beverage is right for just about any occasion.
There is one such occasion that’s better than most, though, and that is World Gin Day, happening this Saturday, 9 June.
Across Adelaide, venues will be slinging botanicals left and right for drinkers with a discerning eye cast over the back bar.
If this is you, there are a few CBD spots we’d recommend you spend your favourite day of the year.
Hains & Co have always got you covered with all things gin, and this weekend they’re hosting an array that includes the launch of 78 Degrees’ Sunset Gin, as well as Never Never Triple Juniper, Elephant Navy Strength, Berry Bros. & Rudd London No. 3, East London Liquor Company, and Ounce Gin.
BRKLYN will hand their bar to Lyrebird for a special World Gin Day takeover,
Apothecary 1878 – the unofficial birthplace of Ounce Gin, according to David Danby and Chris Jones – will host a World Gin Day party, priced at $35 per person, offering a range of over 30 gins, including a cocktail on arrival and six “gin-inspired canapés”.
And if you’re out-of-bounds and a fair way northeast, stop in at the Inglewood Inn, where the pub will be celebrating the release of their Pear Gin, made in collaboration with Applewood Distillery. The event is a response to the hail-damaged pears grown in the region that were unfairly judged as too unattractive to be sold in supermarkets.
But hey, now they’re gin. That’s a win.
